A Message of Calm from Shannon Brown

Posted by Bold Support on

As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) begins to have an increased impact in our communities and as new developments unfold daily, I want to connect directly with you.  I recognize the news headlines and the uncertainty can be unsettling especially with so much attention focused on the two states directly connected to our business: California and Washington State.
What I would like to do is to address some of the concerns and questions we have been receiving from our customers.  As always, you are welcome to call or email us if you have questions that are not addressed here.
It seems that every email I receive from any company I've ever subscribed to outlines the recommended steps for protecting oneself from contracting or spreading the virus so I will not duplicate that information here as I'm sure you already know it well by now. But if you'd like here's a link to the CDC's recommendations: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/home/index.html
"Will pHenomenal prevent me from catching the virus?"
No.  Just as with any virus, it is the body's immune system that will kill it when it produces a special hormone called "interferon".  Do everything you can to bolster your immune system and remember that over-acidity hampers the immune system.   (Source: US National Library of Medicine / National Institutes of Health https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC89003/ )
"Will pHenomenal keep me from getting sicker if I catch the virus?"
Virus infection, in some, can produce what is called a "cytokine storm"- in other words an over-response of the immune system which ultimately creates great inflammation, especially in the lungs.  Again- do absolutely everything you can to ensure your immune system is in peak shape and remember that over-acidity hampers the immune system. (Source: Int'l Journal of  US National Library of Medicine / National Institutes of Health https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3592351/ )
"Should I drink more pHenomenal than I usually do?"
You will need to decide. In the past 15 years we have found and continue to recommend that the 32 ounces per 100 pounds of body weight is the "sweet spot" for handling an average person's daily acidity and making headway in neutralizing any stored acidity.  Do some people take more than that recommendation?  Certainly. Those who know they have acid-producing conditions such as diabetes, gout, etc., someone who is under an enormous amount of stress or those who know they are either about to or just did something (such as a very strenuous workout) to create extra acidity do quite frequently.  But keep in  mind that pHenomenal can only neutralize as much acidity as is currently present in the body.  If you take more without testing your urine or saliva to know your pH level, you may be just wasting your pHenomenal as it passes through your system unused.
"Can I use Spencer's Gel (12pH) or B-pHree (3.2pH) as a replacement hand sanitizer if I can't find any at the store?"
Although both of the products are lab-tested to kill staphylococcus aureus (a bacteria) on contact, neither are certified to kill viruses, we've never seen a reason to have them tested.  However, depending on the virus and which studies you read, on the skin bacteria can't live under 4.5pH or over 8pH.  Viruses vary greatly and as far as we can find the precise pH where COVID-19 dies has not been officially stated, but the range where other, past coronaviruses thrive is 6pH to 8pH. "Will I still be able to get my products? Will your manufacturing ability be effected?
Currently we do not anticipate any interruption in manufacturing nor distribution.  As most are aware, our product is manufactured in Northern California.  All of the components used in manufacturing are sourced inside the US. Shipping does not originate from one single source- we use distribution centers (including Amazon's warehouses) scattered across the US and they package and select the final carrier (usually USPS or UPS). This is why you are accustomed to receiving your orders in 2-3 days regardless of where you live in the US.  As long as those major centers are in operation and delivery services are operational there should be no reason for concern.  Our customer service is handled from Washington State and if necessary options are available for the employees to work from home when necessary.
Let me conclude by saying that we will all get through this if we take the recommended precautions and do the best we can to keep our immune systems in tip-top shape.  We have always considered every client to be "pHamily" and wish you only the very best going forward. Oh- remember to wash your hands!
Who would have ever thought that not going in to work, not sending your kids to school, ordering take-out and being a couch potato in general would be the socially-responsible thing to do? :)
